Most language apps are built around gamification (e.g. streaks, points, and drills.) They keep you engaged, but they don't help you actually understand the language. Real fluency comes from exposure to meaningful input, not from tapping the right tile.
HanTales is built around a different idea: comprehensible input. Start with stories you already know, like fairy tales and familiar narratives. Because you already understand the plot, you can use context to infer meaning, and the Chinese starts to make sense naturally rather than being brute-forced through repetition.
As your vocabulary grows, you move on to harder stories. You build a reading habit. And the language starts to feel intuitive rather than like a list of rules to memorise.

Stories on HanTales are crafted with the help of AI, then reviewed for accuracy and natural flow. This lets us cover a wide range of topics and vocabulary levels that would be hard to produce entirely by hand — while keeping the language authentic and graded appropriately for learners.
