When you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture. We store your email and name in our authentication system, powered by Supabase.

As you use HanTales, we also store the following:

• Reading progress — which stories you have completed and when
• Vocab bank — words you have saved, including the example sentence they came from and your spaced repetition learning data
• Study sessions — dates and summary statistics of your flashcard review sessions
• Settings — your app preferences such as display mode

HanTales uses cookies to provide a functional and personalised experience. You can manage your preferences at any time using the cookie settings button (🍪) on our site.

• Essential Cookies: Strictly necessary for the app to function. They handle secure login via Supabase and remember your light/dark mode preference. These cannot be disabled.
• Analytics Cookies: If you opt in, we use Google Analytics to understand how HanTales is used — for example, which stories are most popular. Google Analytics may set cookies such as _ga and _ga_XXXXXXXX on your device. You can opt out or withdraw consent at any time.

We use the following third-party services to operate HanTales:

• Supabase — database and authentication (supabase.com)
• Google OAuth — sign-in (google.com)
• Google Analytics — usage analytics, only if you consent (analytics.google.com)
• Google Cloud Text-to-Speech — generating audio for stories. This processes story text only, not any personal data.
• Vercel — website hosting (vercel.com)
